Advanced Family Business Governance - CPD Workshop

Date: 27th June 2014

Location: Drayton Manor Park Hotel, Tamworth, Staffordshire, B78 3TW

Good governance has been identified as one of the key indicators enabling family owned businesses to survive and thrive. Awareness amongst family business owners of governance systems and options is growing. This CPD workshop will examine both the theory and practice of family business governance.

The workshop will be led by David Dickson, who is a Senior Partner of Garbutt and Elliott
and an ICFIB Fellow. David has a highly valuable dual perspective of family business
governance issues. He has gained experience as an advisor, involved in implementing
governance systems for his family business clients at Garbutt and Elliot. He is also a family
assembly member and Chairman of the Family Business Committee of his 6th generation, £700m turnover family business.

The workshop will be based on case studies and practical examples and will look at:

      · The theory and practice of family business governance systems;

      · Family business boards;

      · Family councils and family assemblies;

      · The application of best practice to early stage family businesses;

      · The governance vacuum; and

      · Awareness raising.
