Mind the Gap – Psychological aspects of first generation family business succession

This CPD workshop led by Caroline Gourlay, ICFIB Professional Member and a specialist business psychologist, will examine psychological issues and concepts relevant to the growth and transition of early stage family businesses into the next generation. 

Concepts covered will include:

  • - the entrepreneurial mindset;

  • - differentiation and identity theory;

  • - self awareness;

  • - the role of ego in the family business;

  • - scripting; and

  • - birth order issues 

The object of the workshop is to provide those involved with family owned businesses with reference points to build a deeper understanding of family business dynamics and to equip them with further tools and strategies for working with family business clients. 

The workshop builds on the introductory "Inside the Family Business Mind" session (which we hope to repeat before this September course) but has been structured as a stand-alone session. Attendance on the earlier course may be useful it is by no means necessary.
