Please join Veale Wasbrough Vizards in celebrating family owned businesses during the week leading up to National Family Business Day on 19 September 2014. National Family Business Day has been very popular in Australia and is being launched this year in the UK by Family Business United in support of their chosen charity, Wellchild.

Family Business Week is an opportunity to highlight the contribution that family businesses make to the economy and society.

    Thursday 18 September
"First to second generation - passing on the Marshfield Bakery recipe for success"

VWV are pleased to invite you to their fourth Next Generation round table event which will be held at Marshfield Bakery on Thursday 18 September 2014.

This event is an opportunity to meet members of the next generation from all walks of family business life and share experiences. There will be an opportunity for you to ask questions and share stories with other members of family businesses. There will also be a tour around the factory, followed by drinks, canapés and, of course, cakes.

Whilst these events are usually exclusive to next generation family business members, in honour of National Family Business Day, they are inviting anyone that works in, or owns a family business to come and experience the event and learn more about the next generation roundtables that we run.

For more information and to book your place on this event, please visit their website - www.vwv.co.uk.

Family Business Review - Free before 19 September 2014
Everyday management of a business can often be hectic and it can be difficult to find the time to take a step back and review your business in its entirety. A review or audit can serve as a quality assurance check against the business' policies, procedures and requirements, and can serve to identify new areas of opportunity in the efficient delivery of the day to day business.

They would like to offer you the opportunity to take that step back, and take stock, with the reassuring support of an experienced family business lawyer.

Throughout the week they will be offering their services, to work with you to review your business in the following ways:

    • A Legal Audit which will review the legal aspects of your business. They can provide their advice to assist you with any legal issues that may be of concern.
    • A Family Business Audit which will review any aspects of your business that are specific to the running of a family owned business.
    • A hybrid of the above.

They would carry out the review by attending your premises for our meeting so that they can get a deeper understanding of your business. They ask you to allow two hours for the meeting.
Once they have met with you and taken instructions, they will prepare a note containing any advice and guidance given during the meeting. This service will be offered free of charge, provided that you request a review before the 19 September 2014. In support of National Family Business Day they would be delighted if any participants in the Family Business Review could make a donation to WellChild.

WellChild provides practical and emotional support to seriously ill children, young people and their families, enabling them to leave hospital and live their lives in their own homes.

Spaces are limited so we would recommend that you book early. To register your interest in a family business review, please contact VWV.
