Aims
Our leadership programme supports the development of family business leaders,
helping participants to enhance their leadership knowledge, skills and attributes.
Overall, the programme helps leaders to:
- gain a better understanding of their personal development needs as they
assume leadership roles within the family business
- benefit from a peer support network during the course and beyond
- recognise real issues associated with business performance and learn
ways in which to address these issues as leaders
- develop an overall understanding of best practice business management
Structure
The leadership programme has been split into three modules of two days in duration
plus a one day follow-up workshop, supported throughout with ongoing tutorial support.
Prior to attending the first module there is also an element of pre-programme work
that has been designed to maximise the relevance of the course to the individual delegate.
The whole programme is completed within a three month period.
Module 1 – Personal Leadership
Module 2 – Leadership in Action in the Family Business
Module 3 – Change and the Family Business Environment
Follow-up Workshop
A key element of the programme is facilitated discussion to highlight issues that
are faced in the current business environment in order to maintain the practicality
and relevance of the programme to the participants involved. Additionally, each module
involves an overnight stay and participants are strongly recommended to take advantage
of the additional learning and networking opportunities afforded through the residential
element of this programme.
Topics addressed throughout the programme include contemporary leadership styles, personal
leadership styles, communication, building effective working relationships, family systems
and structures and their impact on leadership, working across boundaries, managing and dealing
with change and much, much more.
